Description: I've tried deciphering the artist's signature in the lower right to no avail, and this looks like a very old canvas and painting style. When you hold the piece up with light behind it, there are a thousand tiny holes where the canvas has decomposed yet, from the image-side of the painting, most of this damage is obscured and not the least bit obvious. There are a couple scrapes and bumps on the front that are visible - these are from poor storage and mishandling over the years. The paint is thickly applied and expertly rendered. Following gut instinct only and based on the interior frame, I suspect this was painted in Italy and possibly by a street artist during the early stages of the 20th century. The piece measures 11" wide and 16" tall.
