Description: This is from Spode’s TRADEWINDS line of stoneware. They formerly offered this design in blue or red. For a short time in the late 20th century they also offered the TRADEWINDS design in black. Unfortunately the black option has been discontinued rendering pieces of black TRADEWINDS difficult to find or to add to one’s collection of dinnerware. The clipper ships on the pieces feature Brig Built in 1820 on the cup and Brig Cygnot of Salem Built 1822 on the saucer.
